As part of our series, we find out what Ryan Mitchell, our Collaboration Engineer, gets up to on a typical day at work.
Name: Ryan Mitchell
Job Title: Collaboration Engineer
Time with the company: 1 year and 2 months.
What’s typically the first task of the day?
Checking any service desk tickets which are due that day. Also, getting Jacob to make me a cup of a coffee!
How would you describe your role within the Amtech team?
My role in the team consists of working on projects across the UK and as a 2nd line engineer on the service desk.
What is your main priority on a typical day?
My main priority is to make sure my tickets are up to date and they don’t break any SLA.
What’s your favourite part of your job?
To be able to have the freedom to learn new technologies. Whether that be in projects or in our own lab environment. Also, some of my colleagues have been in the industry for years so there is a lot to learn from the people around you too. Also, even though we specialise in Cisco we get the chance to interact with other vendors such as IPFX.
Have you had much experience in this industry before, if so, what?
Whilst at University, I had a placement year where I worked for an R&S and voice company. I was able to learn and get hands on with the technologies that I have been studying whilst at University. Whilst on placement, I acquired my CCNA R&S and my CCNA Voice which helped me by learning the different technologies in greater depth.
What does a typical day look like for you?
Working with the service desk team and mainly troubleshooting and fixing Cisco collaboration problems.
We would love to help, fill out the form and one of our trained team members will get back to you within 24 hours
