Our most recent interview is with George Bearman, our marketing executive and editor of the blog. George went to the University of Birmingham and is an English Literature graduate. After gaining experience in the service and recruitment industries, George decided to make a career move to the channel and pursue his passion for technology. Whilst at University, he was heavily involved in the student newspaper, and so naturally, he was very keen to get fully involved in helping out with the blog. Let’s find out more George and how he’s got on over the past few months!
What’s your favourite flavour of ice-cream?
Mint Chocolate. I love the crunch of frozen chocolate and the nice, cool, refreshing mint aftertaste.
If you could be an animal then what animal would you be?
I would be a wolf, especially after watching the Jungle Book a few months ago. There’s something amazing about the loyalty of a pack.
What’s the one thing you enjoy the most?
That feeling when you come home from a hard day’s work, the house is clean, and dinner is ready, and you can just sit back with your family and put on a really good film.
If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you be?
I would be on top of Kilimanjaro, so I can finally tick it off my bucket list. Truth be told, after watching Everest, I’m not sure the gruelling journey to the top would be for me. Of course, nothing could compare to the achievement of reaching the top after years of planning, preparation and dedication, but I would like the experience of just being up there.
What’s the nerdiest thing that you like to do in your spare time?
I’m really into gaming, so I’ve built my own custom PC. I actually spend a lot of my time dreaming up ways I can make the ultimate computer to play games with the best graphics possible.
What do you like about working at Amtech?
I know that this might seem a bit clichéd, but I really appreciate how close the team is at Amtech. I really feel like I have the support from my company, which allows me to explore my creativity. There is that giddy moment when you realise that they really will support you in anything you want to do, but it’s also really humbling knowing you’re working with a team that has so much experience in the industry.
What’s been your biggest challenge whilst working on Amtech?
I’ve only just joined Amtech recently, and I believe I’m coming up to what must be my third month now. Wow doesn’t time fly. I hadn’t really had much exposure to collaboration, unified Comms, or the Channel. I remember being shown a server room on my first day and seeing a firewall, and I was in utter disbelief that a firewall was actually a physical, tangible object.
What are you looking forward to in the future with Amtech?
The future is looking really bright at the moment. I’ve joined Amtech at a time where the company is expanding, and there really is that feeling that anything is possible. I posted a blog about this recently, There’s a lot of Buzz in the Channel, there’s a real sense at the moment that the channel has a chance for change. We’ve been talking a lot of late about Amtech’s role in the future of the channel, and I have to say, I can’t wait to put everything into practice.
It always feels like we could ask more questions, but time has run out, and that’s it for this week. George would be more than happy to answer questions left in the comments below, and I’m sure you’ll see him write actively on the blog, so don’t be afraid to say hello! Be sure to check back every fortnight on Friday for our next interview and feature on ‘Getting to know the team’.
We’ll let you know as soon as it’s published, and keep you updated on all our posts on the blog, if you follow us on either Twitter, Facebook, or LinkedIn. If you have any more questions for George then we’d be happy to pass them onto them if you leave a comment, or I’m sure he’d be happy to answer them himself if you tweet @George_Bearman with #AmtechSolutions.
We would love to help, fill out the form and one of our trained team members will get back to you within 24 hours
